The Friends Attack an Old Trash Dump Site

Friends of Manassas National Battlefield Park

Home

For decades, unthinking people dumped their old cans and bottles, broken appliances, discarded clothing, rusty car parts, and assorted other refuse into what should be a scenic and clean wash below the historic Cundiff house site on the Stuart's Tract. When the National Park Service acquired the Stuart's Tract in 1988, it also acquired this unsightly, unsanitary, and unsafe trash dump. Superintendent Robert Sutton has asked the Friends to help clean up this eyesore

On June 3, 2001, six Friends tackled the trash dump. We were not able to complete our task, but we did make progress. If you would like to help finish this project, please contact Harvey Simon at (703) 670-3277 or by e-mail: paganspal@yahoo.com.
